Covid-19 Precautions - Newsletter #2

ree

Welcome to the second newsletter, today we aim to look at the current COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting several ways to keep you safe.

To begin with, Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It can be spread from the mouth or nose of an infected person via small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak or breathe. These particles can range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols.

While there is no "cure" for COVID-19, you can take the following steps to reduce your potential of being infected:

Wash your hands

ree

Ensure that you wash your hands regularly with soap and water. Alternatively you can use alcohol based hand rubs to achieve the same result. Make sure that you clean your hands after handling equipment, touching door handles or shaking hands.

Keep your distance

ree

Make sure that you keep at least one to two meters between others and yourself, even if they do not display any symptoms. This is because the COVID-19 virus can remain dormant in the body for up to two weeks, however, even though it shows no effects, it can still be transmitted.

Get vaccinated

ree

Getting vaccinated will help in reducing your chances of catching the virus, and should you still get infected, it should help reduce the severity of the infection.

Note that the current covid vaccines do not guarantee 100% protection against all types of strains, thus you should still take all the necessary precautions even if vaccinated.

If you feel ill, ISOLATE yourself

ree

Keep in mind that part of staying safe is keeping your distance from infected individuals, thus if you find yourself suffering from the following symptoms;

-fever

-cough

-tiredness

-loss of taste or smell.

Make sure that you isolate yourself and that you get tested for the virus as soon as possible.

Stay informed

ree

Getting a general understanding of the current virus situation can play a vital role in how strict you should be with your precautions. You can always visit the site for future updates on this topic, or view other trusted sites to get the necessary information. Remember that there is no need to panic, and that panicking will not solve anything.

This marks the end of the second letter. Stay safe.
